Born
in Riverdale, North Dakota on March 30, 1953, Delor lived
in Idaho and Wyoming before his father’s business brought
the Baumann family to Hueytown in 1958. Hueytown has been
home to Delor ever since, graduating in 1971 from Hueytown
High School, where he was selected by the faculty as a Senior
Standout, was a member of numerous choirs, the Pep Club and
German Club, where he displayed his hidden talent of playing
the accordion.
Delor married Jeanne Duncan
in 1974 and has two daughters, Candace and Carla.
He
worked as plant manager with Baumann Coatings before becoming
president of the company after his father’s sudden
death in September 2001. Since then he has been highly active
in the Hueytown community. For three years he has served
as a member of the Hueytown Chamber of Commerce Board of
Directors and Hueytown Industrial Board of Directors, where
he has helped with the 40-acre purchase of land adjacent
to the already 70 owned by the city of Hueytown.
He is a member of the Hueytown Lions Club,
helping with the selling of tickets for the playhouse each
Christmas season, the annual golf tournament and other fundraisers
to help send Hueytown kids with diabetes to Juvenile Diabetes
Camp Seal Harris. In June he was sworn in as secretary of
the club. Delor is also a member of the Hueytown Quarterback
Club, helping with the Jefferson County Board of Education
and other officials to help get Gilmore-Vines stadium looking
good. Phase One of the project is already complete.
Delor cares deeply for Hueytown schools,
and that is why he currently serves as the Hueytown C.A.R.E.
(Citizens Advocating a Return to Excellence) Business & Community
Chairman. Through this organization he has been working hard
to improve the city’s schools with results. He served
as the Hueytown High School PTSO Vice President through May
2004 as well as being a member of the HHS Alumni Association.
Another organization that Delor works through
to improve Hueytown is the Hueytown SpringFest-Stadium Park
Committee, which he currently holds the position of president.
The annual festivities sponsored by the committee raises
money for local schools and the stadium park.
Delor is also a member of the Bessemer Chamber
of Commerce and a member of the National Rifle Association.
In the past he has served many times as
president for Grace Lutheran Church and as the president
on the board of directors for Lakeview Estates Corp. He also
